The term &#8220;Raksha Bandhan&#8221; translates to &#8220;the bond of protection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rakhi,&#8221; a decorative thread or bracelet that a sister ties around her brother&#8217;s wrist. This rakhi symbolizes the sister&#8217;s love, care, and prayers for her brother&#8217;s well-being and protection.<\/p>\n<p>Rakhi is not just a thread but a symbol of the emotional bond between siblings. It signifies the unconditional love and support siblings have for each other, reinforcing family ties.<\/p>\n<p>Raksha Bandhan promotes harmony and respect between genders. It&#8217;s a day when brothers pledge to protect and respect the rights and dignity of their sisters.<\/p>\n<p>The Hindu Council of Australia is organising a community event or awareness campaign around Raksha Bandhan to highlight the importance of safety and protection.<\/p>\n<p>Involving community members, including children, to tie rakhis to local emergency service workers, such as police officers, firefighters, and paramedics.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/mypolice.qld.gov.au\/southbrisbane\/files\/2021\/09\/IMG_7351-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Raksha Bandhan celebration in Holland Park - South Brisbane\" width=\"246\" height=\"287\">This gesture can convey gratitude and appreciation for their dedicated service.
