NSW LABOR COMMITS $250,000 FOR A STUDY INTO HINDU CULTURAL AND EDUCATION CENTRE
\n<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An elected NSW Labor Government will provide $250,000 to the Hindu Council of Australia (HCA) as a first step towards establishing a Hindu Cultural and Education Centre in Sydney.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This funding will be used to develop a business case for the project, allowing the HCA to engage the professional advice it needs to plan a successful project.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The study will assess the multiple needs of the Hindu community, from conducting cultural events, education and training, through to social and youth activities.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There is a need for a place where important Hindu educational, cultural and religious materials can be kept and accumulated for future generations.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2011 there were just 60,000 people of the Hindu faith living in Sydney. Today, it is a quarter of a million. One in every 20 people in Sydney practice the Hindu faith. By any measure, this is remarkable growth in just one decade.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
